Are there business grants for solar panels in the UK?
At the time of writing this point, there aren’t any nationwide solar panel grants for businesses available in the UK however, there can in some cases, be grants available via your local authority and you should contact them directly to verify this.
Is a commercial solar installation tax deductible?
At the time of writing, tax relief is available on the installation of Solar PV systems as well as associated roofing improvement works however, we’d recommend verifying this with your tax advisor/accountant.
Where can Solar PV Used?
Solar PV can be installed in a multitude of applications including on-roof and ground mount. It is beneficial and useful to a range of industries and sectors consuming electricity. There is a misconception that Solar PV only works on a south facing roof however, this is not necessarily the case. Systems can be installed on various orientations and in different locations and our SAP calculation will factor the various factors in when producing a system performance estimate.
What are the main elements of a Solar PV Installation?
A Commercial Solar PV installation is comprised primarily of solar panel modules which are fixed using a mounting system and electrical inverters. The panels capture sunlight and the inverters convert it into usable energy for your business.
Do solar panels require planning permission?
In most cases, having solar panels installed does not require an application for planning permission, as it is included within your Permitted Development Rights. Certain exclusions apply however and we will provide you with the guidance or assistance you might need with planning advice and planning permission before the project begins.
Can my business continue to operate during a solar panel installation?
Yes, installing solar panels will not affect your business operating as normal we will even work around your business needs if a shutdown is required to commission the system.
Can I get paid for excess energy generated?
Yes, you can apply for Export payments which can be treated as a combined or, separate contract to your energy supply. You will require copies of your DNO commissioning paperwork which we provide in your Handover pack and some providers require a specific export meter to be installed also.
Do solar panels work on cloudy days?
Yes, solar panels will still produce electricity albeit on a smaller scale when they’re not directly exposed to direct sunlight making them an all year round solution.
Do you offer maintenance
Yes, unlike many Solar PV installers, we believe in building ongoing, long term relationships with our clients and as such, we offer fixed and ad-hoc servicing and maintenance options for your PV system. It is generally recommended that a system is serviced and cleaned on an annual basis.
What are the signs my roof is damaged?
It is crucial to keep an eye on your roof regularly as damage can build up and lead to bigger problems. Some tell tail signs of an issue can be:

Yes, we can offer solutions to either, remove the asbestos and replace the roof entirely or, over clad your roof which is a more cost effective and less invasive solution however, encapsulates the asbestos in place. Importantly, with both options, you will see several benefits with the end solution including, increased thermal properties and less heat loss, an increased building value and the ability to facilitate Solar PV which can in fact, fund the asbestos improvement works over the system lifetime.
Do you include gutters and rainwater outlet works?
Yes, we can offer maintenance and cleaning of your gutters and RWO often providing solutions for overflowing gutters as well as full replacement and gutter lining solutions.
Can a roof repair be done in winter?
Yes, we work all year long in various weather conditions. Of course, it has to be safe for the team to be on the roof and working at height, and there can sometimes be an increase to the project duration during winter months to compensate for less daylight hours and adverse weather conditions but we will keep you updated with project timescales.
Do you offer maintenance?
Yes, often it is a condition of the manufacturers guarantee or a condition on your insurance policy that you have your roof annually maintained and checked. This can often provide an additional benefit of dealing with any issues before the become severe and more costly to repair.
Do you include Scaffolding and access?
Yes, we offer a fully managed turn key solution and as such, we manage all aspects of the project including scaffolding and access requirements.
